
Until recently actinomycetes were considered to be predominantly soil bacteria, but they have now been isolated from a wide range of habitats, including some of the most extreme ones found on the planet such as deep-sea sediments and hyper-arid desert soils. They are found in practically every environmental niche. The actinomycete bacteria in our Goodfellow collection have been collected from a wide variety of habitats such as those shown in the images above.
